Holy Name of Jesus

On Jan. 3, we celebrate the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. This day is a reminder of the importance and the power of Jesus' very Name, which means “Yahweh saves.” So, although it is only an optional memorial, how did this important day come to be recognized in the Church?
