The Assumption of Mary
One of the greatest Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Solemnity celebrated on Aug. 15.
The Assumption is the belief that at the end of Her earthly life, Mary was taken up body and soul into Heaven. This special privilege reflects Her unique role as the Mother of God and points us to the hope of eternal life that Christ has won for all who follow Him.
