How to Receive Holy Communion

A big issue today is whether to receive Holy Communion on the tongue or in the hand. Church documents state that receiving on the tongue is desired, but according to the “General Instruction of the Roman Missal,” the consecrated Host may be received either on the tongue or in the hand at the discretion of each communicant.
