The holy penitential season of Lent is a time in which we seek to grow closer to Christ and His Passion, and we journey with Him through the Way of the Cross in order to prepare our hearts for the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Today’s Gospel reminds us that miracles are not mythology but reality. Two blind men cry out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.” Their plea becomes the seed of what the Church would later cherish as the Jesus Prayer—“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
