On this great solemnity, Fr. Chris reflects on the mystery at the heart of the Marian Fathers’ charism: the Immaculate Conception—God’s greatest act of mercy ever given to a creature. Despite the grief of losing his father just days earlier, he reminds us that Our Lady’s purity is the blueprint for our own path to holiness. Long before the dogma was defined in 1854, the Church cherished this truth in Scripture and Sacred Tradition, seen in Gabriel’s greeting, “Hail, full of grace,” revealing Mary as wholly transformed by divine life.
Fr. Chris explains how our founder, St. Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary, understood this mystery centuries ahead of its formal proclamation. The Marians were the first men’s community in the world to bear her title—because everything in Christian life flows from the grace God poured into Mary from the first moment of her existence. Her Immaculate Conception shows that redemption is not merely cure but prevention, a sign of God’s infinite love and power over sin.
The teaching is clear: to reach heaven, we too must become “holy and immaculate” (Eph 1:4). Whether through purgation, suffering, or daily conversion, God prepares His children to reflect the purity of the Mother He chose. As Fr. Chris shares, Mary is forever in full enmity with the serpent—proof that no trace of sin ever touched her. She is our model, our refuge, and the mantle under which Divine Mercy is most fully revealed.
Today the Marian Fathers renew their vows, entrusting themselves—and you—to Mary’s maternal care. May her Immaculate Heart lead us to deeper union with Jesus, the source of all mercy. “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”
We all believe that becoming a saint is out of our reach... long prayers, extreme penances, and superhuman virtue. While those things are characteristic of canonized saints, surprisingly those elements are not what defines holiness. So what does? Join Fr. Chris Alar as he gives you the answer.
