Our Lady of Częstochowa

The Image of Our Lady in Częstochowa, Poland, said to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist, is among a small group of Black Madonnas recognized throughout the entire world, largely due to the piety of Pope St. John Paul II.

Also known as Our Lady of Jasna Gora, the miracles of Our Lady of Częstochowa are numerous and spectacular. Father Chris Alar, MIC, tells the story.

Then hear about a place in the heartland of America where millions of travelers find a similar sense of hope and Divine Mercy. Standing tall at the intersection of two major interstates, the Cross at the Crossroads in Effingham, Illinois, serves as a universal sign of peace for all who pass by.
