The Miracle That Shook the World

On October 13, 1917, Heaven opened — and the sun danced. Before 70,000 witnesses, the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima became one of the most powerful public manifestations of God’s reality in human history. It was no myth, no private vision — even the secular press confirmed it. Our Lady appeared to remind us of one timeless truth: stop offending God, repent, and return to Him.

From the Protestant Reformation of 1517 to atheistic communism in 1917, every century has seen an eruption of evil — and every time, God sends His Mother to warn us and call us back to mercy. Like the people of Fatima, we are being urged to pray, to do penance, and to trust in Divine Mercy.

As Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, reminds us: Now is the time of mercy. Don’t wait for the time of justice. If you’ve been struggling to overcome sin or renew your faith, today is the day to begin again. The Queen Mary — the Blessed Mother — is still guiding her children back to Christ.

In today’s homily, Fr. Chris Alar reminds us that prayer is not just something we do—it is who we are called to be. It is the lifeline between our soul and God, the “raising of one’s mind and heart to God” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2559). Prayer is communication, relationship, and covenant. It is how we learn to love the Lord and conform our human will to His divine will.
Modesty, in dress and words and action, seems to be completely forgotten in today's culture. However, there may never be a more important time to be examples of light in the darkness. Join Fr. Chris Alar as he explains what modesty is and what you need to do to avoid mortal sin in this area.
As the world focuses on elections and politics, Fr. Mark Baron reminds us that November calls Catholics to something far deeper — the Last Things: death, judgment, heaven, and hell. While political outcomes can stir hope or despair, Fr. Mark challenges us to shift our trust from men to God, who alone rules history and every soul.
