Hope in the Lord

The Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception present "Journey Through Advent" with Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC. In this series, Fr. Anthony will help us to dive deeper into the holy penitential season of Advent, preparing ourselves for Our Lord's Birth on Christmas. Join Fr. Anthony as he answers some of the burning questions you may have regarding this season, helping you to make this Advent season more fruitful and spiritually rewarding!

In this episode, Fr. Anthony reminds us of the meaning of the theological virtue of hope as we come to anticipate the Incarnation of Christ. He encourages us to seek out the Sacraments this Advent — Are we seeking reconciliation for our sins in the Sacrament of Confession? Are we worthily receiving Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist? Do we visit Jesus in Adoration?

This Advent, seek the opportunity to conduct a “Eucharistic Checkup,” as we prepare our hearts for the arrival of the Savior on Christmas Day.

This week, Fr. Anthony explains how we can more clearly hear God speak to us in our hearts, but perhaps not in the way you think! By practicing being silent and still and flushing out everyday secular cares, we may be able to hear what God wants from us, rather than what the world wants from us.
Father Anthony reflects on the urgency and tenderness of John 7:37–39, set on the final and greatest day of the feast, when Jesus suddenly cries out above the noise of ritual and crowds: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” It is a startling invitation—not to effort, observance, or mastery, but to thirst itself—as if longing were the doorway God has been waiting to open.
Who was St. Bonaventure and why does he matter today? In this episode of Saints in Focus, Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC, explains the life of St. Bonaventure, just one of the select group of doctors of the Catholic Church! His Feast Day is celebrated on July 15th, the day of his death.
