The Difference between Socialism & Communism and What the Church Teaches

As our culture continues to redefine truth, where should Catholics stand? In this powerful homily, Fr. Chris Alar, MIC explains the Catholic Church's teaching on communism, socialism, human dignity, private property, and the role of the State in light of the Gospel. Drawing from Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the teachings of Popes Leo XIII and Pius XI, he reminds us that our ultimate hope and freedom come from God; not from any political ideology. Fr. Chris also addresses today's cultural challenges, the importance of defending objective moral truth, and why the Church teaches that authentic freedom, justice, and human dignity can only flourish when God remains at the heart of society. This homily is not about partisan politics; it is about the salvation of souls, the protection of religious freedom, and remaining faithful to Jesus Christ in a world that increasingly rejects His truth. Many times as Catholics we are asked, "Where is Confession in the Bible?" Hear Fr. Chris explain where it is in the Bible and why Jesus told us that we need to go to the priest.
In Revelation 12, Scripture presents a woman “clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (Rev 12:1). As Fr. Chris explains, this image points unmistakably to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her heavenly glory reveals the one chosen by God to bear Christ, the King who “is to rule all the nations” (Rev 12:5). Yet confusion arises when the passage speaks of her crying out in pain. These are not physical labor pains from the birth of Jesus.
