St. Charbel & Why He is one of the Greatest of All Saints

In today’s homily, Fr. Chris Alar reflects on the extraordinary life of St. Charbel Makhlouf, a Maronite Catholic monk formed by poverty, prayer, silence, and sacrifice. After leaving home at age 23, St. Charbel dedicated himself completely to God through a hidden life of humility and penance. His holiness became a powerful bridge between Christians and Muslims, drawing people of different faiths together through prayer, healing, and respect. Even after his death on Christmas Eve, remarkable signs surrounding his incorrupt body strengthened devotion to him. St. Charbel remains a powerful intercessor, especially for the sick, reminding us that a life completely surrendered to God can bring healing, unity, and hope to the world. Father Chris Alar, MIC turns our attention to the Feast of the Holy Family and the profound truth it reveals about God’s design for human life. The Holy Family is not a symbol shaped by culture or preference. It is a revelation. God chose to enter history through a family — a man, a woman, and a child — and in doing so, He revealed the foundation upon which both the Church and society stand.
In today's homily, Fr. Daniel Klimek delivers a powerful reflection on God's disappointment with Israel and the pride of Judea; a message that speaks directly to our world today. While we may not worship pagan statues, many of us are tempted to place power, success, comfort, wealth, popularity, or personal desires above God, creating modern-day idols that slowly draw our hearts away from Him.
