St. Charbel & Why He is one of the Greatest of All Saints

In today’s homily, Fr. Chris Alar reflects on the extraordinary life of St. Charbel Makhlouf, a Maronite Catholic monk formed by poverty, prayer, silence, and sacrifice. After leaving home at age 23, St. Charbel dedicated himself completely to God through a hidden life of humility and penance. His holiness became a powerful bridge between Christians and Muslims, drawing people of different faiths together through prayer, healing, and respect. Even after his death on Christmas Eve, remarkable signs surrounding his incorrupt body strengthened devotion to him. St. Charbel remains a powerful intercessor, especially for the sick, reminding us that a life completely surrendered to God can bring healing, unity, and hope to the world.
