Saint Agatha

February 5 is the feast day of St. Agatha, Virgin and Martyr. She's one of the many incredible saints in the early history of the Catholic Church, invoked in the First Eucharistic Prayer along with Saints Felicity, Perpetua, Lucy, Agnes, Cecilia, and Anastasia.

Father Chris Alar, MIC, explains why St. Agatha merits this great honor, and why she is the patron saint of so many different people, from martyrs, breast cancer patients, bellmakers, and bakers to fire and earthquake victims.

Then hear the story of MiraVia, a first-of-its-kind maternity home that helps pregnant college students stay in school and obtain the support that they need to raise their children.

It's an age-old question, and there's no perfect answer. While the Church does not teach "dog-matically" that our beloved animals will or will not be in Heaven, some think they will be, as the Scriptures describe animals at peace in the new creation. Join Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, as he shares both sides of the topic and gives thanks to God for the gift of our animal companions.
