In today’s homily, Scott Foley reflected on Peter’s profound act of humility. Although Peter was an experienced fisherman, he allowed Jesus—a carpenter—to guide him in something Peter knew very well. Peter felt unworthy, yet he trusted Jesus, who led him with patience and calm. The boat can also symbolize the Church, where Christ accompanies and guides us.
Scott Foley reminded us that Jesus chose Peter to be the rock and leader of His Church. Peter’s experience as a fisherman became part of his mission to bring others to the Lord. In the same way, Jesus wants to use our life experiences, talents, and even our weaknesses, making us instruments to guide others closer to Him.
