The Miracle That Shook the World

On October 13, 1917, Heaven opened — and the sun danced. Before 70,000 witnesses, the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima became one of the most powerful public manifestations of God’s reality in human history. It was no myth, no private vision — even the secular press confirmed it. Our Lady appeared to remind us of one timeless truth: stop offending God, repent, and return to Him.

From the Protestant Reformation of 1517 to atheistic communism in 1917, every century has seen an eruption of evil — and every time, God sends His Mother to warn us and call us back to mercy. Like the people of Fatima, we are being urged to pray, to do penance, and to trust in Divine Mercy.

As Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, reminds us: Now is the time of mercy. Don’t wait for the time of justice. If you’ve been struggling to overcome sin or renew your faith, today is the day to begin again. The Queen Mary — the Blessed Mother — is still guiding her children back to Christ.

To exercise true freedom, you have to be able to say yes and no to both the bad and the good, not just to what is sinful. When you fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, you are being obedient to the Church and share in the sacrifice of Christ. In fact, some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. Father Chris Alar, MIC, explains.
The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/121125.cfm On December 11, the Marian Fathers celebrate the spiritual founding of our community, dating back to 1670 when St. Stanislaus Papczyński made his solemn oblation and offered his whole being to God and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, conceived without original sin. In his vow, he promised to promote and defend her honor even to the cost of his life. Today, Fr. Matt reminds us that this mission continues.
