As we celebrate Independence Day, we naturally reflect on the gift of freedom, something so many have fought for and even died to protect. But as Catholics, we know that true freedom goes even deeper than politics or personal rights. Real freedom, explains Fr. Matthew Tomeny, MIC, is choosing what is holy and what leads us closer to God. Then hear the story of Fr. Matthew Pawlikowski, a military chaplain who has spent his life forming soldiers for the battlefield and for spiritual battle.

Watch Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, and the Marian Fathers and Brothers from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on our weekly show, "Living Divine Mercy," airing on EWTN every Thursday at 10 pm ET, with an encore presentation on Mondays at 9:00 am ET.  Through teaching segments, Bible and St. Faustina Diary excerpts, as well as real-life examples of people who are living Divine Mercy in their lives, you will learn why Jesus said Divine Mercy is mankind's last hope of salvation!

According to philosopher/theologian Dr. Peter Kreeft, philosophical proofs can be valid proofs without having to be scientific proofs. The Crusades are one of the greatest “black eyes” in the history of the Catholic Church, but also one of the most misunderstood events, according to Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Eight Crusades over 200 years literally changed the world and gave us legendary figures like King Richard “the Lionhearted” of England and St. Louis IX of France. Father Chris Alar, MIC, explores the history of the Crusades and considers whether the “just war” theory is applicable.
Happy All Saints Day! As Fr. Matthew reminds us, today we celebrate all the saints — not just those canonized and known to the Church, but also the hidden saints known only to God. These are the souls who lived their lives faithfully, quietly, and heroically, fulfilling the will of God in the ordinary duties of their daily lives. This feast is meant to be your feast day too. God desires every one of us to become a saint, to be counted among the Church Triumphant in Heaven.
