Why Did Jesus send Demons into Pigs?

What if the devil’s greatest victory is convincing the world that he doesn’t exist? In this eye-opening homily, Fr. Chris Alar uncovers the reality of spiritual warfare, revealing how Satan’s tactics have remained the same from biblical times to today: distracting souls with wealth, status, pleasure, fear, and self-interest while leading them away from God.

Reflecting on the Gospel account of the possessed man and the herd of pigs, Fr. Chris explains how Christ reveals His absolute authority over evil. Even the demons recognize His power. Their fear of being cast into the water points us to something deeper: water is a sign of life, cleansing, and rebirth. In Baptism, water becomes the instrument through which God destroys sin, frees the soul from the power of darkness, and brings us into new life in Christ. This is why Baptism terrifies the evil one; because through it, a soul is claimed for God.

Drawing on Scripture and the wisdom of the Church Fathers, this powerful reflection calls us to reject the culture of death and embrace the culture of life. Every human person is created in the image and likeness of God, making each soul worth fighting for. Christ has already won the victory, but we are called to remain vigilant, live in His grace, and help bring others to His mercy.

This message will challenge, inspire, and strengthen your faith in the battle for souls.
