Father Joe tells how Francisco was a "little contemplative"; he would retreat to the attic of his house to escape the crowds, be quiet, and listen to God.All of us need to be alone and to pray at times, as Jesus did often.

Today’s Gospel reminds us that miracles are not mythology but reality. Two blind men cry out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.” Their plea becomes the seed of what the Church would later cherish as the Jesus Prayer—“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Father Joe discusses the wonderful prayer given to the Fatima children by an angel in preparation for Our Lady's apparitions. We need to know God and believe in Him, so that we can adore Him and love Him. That's the whole purpose of our lives.
