He explains that we are called to let go of resentment, not to forge a friendship with the one who harms us. Forgiveness, he says, releases the heart from hatred while leaving space for justice.

Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword” (Mt 10:34). Many hear these words and recoil — how could the Prince of Peace bring division? Yet, as Fr.
